Paris – Artificial intelligence leader OpenAI has firmly stated that it is "not for sale" after reports surfaced of a $97.4 billion buyout offer from tech entrepreneur Elon Musk.

During an AI summit in ParisChris Lehane, OpenAI’s Chief Global Affairs Officer, dismissed the proposal, suggesting that it was an attempt by a competitor struggling to keep pace with the company’s advancements.

"OpenAI is not for sale, and any such suggestion is misleading," Lehane said.

Musk’s AI Rivalry with OpenAI

Elon Musk, a co-founder and early supporter of OpenAI, has been increasingly critical of the organization since parting ways with it. In recent years, he has launched his own AI ventures, including xAI, in an effort to compete with OpenAI’s cutting-edge models.

Musk’s reported $97.4 billion bid underscores the growing competition in artificial intelligence, as major tech companies race to develop the most advanced AI technologies.

OpenAI’s Position in the AI Industry

OpenAI remains a dominant force in AI innovation, with its models being widely used across industries. The company has been focusing on advancing AI responsibly while ensuring global access to its technology.

Despite Musk’s attempt to acquire the firm, OpenAI’s leadership has made it clear that it intends to continue operating independently.

As the AI industry evolves, the battle for dominance between OpenAI, Musk’s xAI, and other tech giants is expected to intensify in the coming years.
