The ongoing Mahakumbh 2025 is drawing millions of devotees to the Triveni Sangam, where they brave the winter chill to take a sacred dip. Among them is a unique figure — Abhay Singh, fondly known as 'Engineer Baba,' who has emerged as a notable attraction during this 45-day religious congregation.

Who is ‘Engineer Baba’?

Abhay Singh, an IIT-Bombay (IIT-B) alumnus with a background in aerospace engineering, hails from Haryana. His journey from a science student to a spiritual guide has garnered significant attention at the Mahakumbh. Known for simplifying complex spiritual concepts, Singh uses diagrams and visual aids to make them more accessible to modern minds, as reported by PTI.

“Science explains the physical world, but the deeper study of science inevitably leads one toward spirituality. True understanding of life brings us closer to spirituality,” Singh shared with PTI.

The Journey of Transformation

When asked about his decision to leave his engineering studies, ‘Engineer Baba’ explained that his path to spirituality was one of exploration. “I come from Haryana, went to IIT, then switched from engineering to arts, but neither worked out. Eventually, I found my way to the ultimate truth,” he told ANI.

Singh’s search for knowledge led him to delve deeper into the ancient language of Sanskrit and its significance, sparking his interest in understanding the workings of the mind and how to rid it of unnecessary thoughts.

A Symbol of Modernity and Tradition

Representing the Juna Akhada, ‘Engineer Baba’ has become a symbol of the confluence of modern and traditional values at the Mahakumbh. The Uttar Pradesh government has highlighted the event as a testament to both the greatness of Sanatan Dharma and the need for spirituality in the lives of today’s youth and professionals. The Mahakumbh is rapidly evolving into a symbol that bridges the gap between science and spirituality.

Mahakumbh 2025: A Gathering of Faith

Despite Wednesday being a non-major bathing day, the sacred event at Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and mythical Saraswati meet, continues to witness a massive turnout. On Makar Sankranti, nearly 3.5 crore devotees took part in the ritual, marking the religious significance of this grand spiritual gathering.
