Washington DC: A deepfake video featuring former US President Donald Trump licking the feet of billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk was displayed on monitors at the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on Monday. The AI-generated clip, titled "Long Live the Real King," appeared to mock Trump and Musk's relationship, referencing Trump's recent Truth Social post that read, "Long live the King."

The source of the video remains unknown, raising questions about whether the display resulted from a cyberattack or an internal prank. The footage, which looped for an extended period, quickly went viral, prompting speculation on social media about whether it was a cybersecurity breach or a coordinated stunt.

In response to the incident, HUD spokesperson Kasey Lovett told The Hill"Another waste of taxpayer dollars and resources. Appropriate action will be taken for all involved."

Trump’s "King" Post and Musk’s Growing Influence

On February 19, Donald Trump celebrated his administration’s decision to block New York City’s congestion pricing program, declaring himself a king in a Truth Social post. "Congestion pricing is dead. Manhattan, and all of New York, is saved. Long live the King," he wrote. The White House amplified the message by sharing an illustration of Trump wearing a crown on what appeared to be a Time magazine cover, but was labeled Trump, as reported by The New York Times.

Trump has long opposed congestion pricing, arguing that it would harm New York’s economy. His administration officially scrapped the program through a letter from Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy to New York Governor Kathy Hochul, citing concerns for working-class Americans.

Musk’s Role in the Trump Administration

Since President Trump’s return to office, Elon Musk, now a key Trump ally, has gained significant influence in federal operations. Musk was appointed to lead the newly established Department of Government Efficiency, overseeing budget cuts and workforce reductions, which have led to thousands of federal employees being laid off.

On Tuesday, federal agencies issued conflicting directives regarding an email from Musk, sent under President Trump’s administration, requiring employees to submit a five-bullet summary of their daily work. Some agencies initially instructed staff to comply, then later reversed their guidance. Others provided standardized responses to avoid security concerns.

Both Trump and Musk have advocated for stricter workplace policies, with Musk warning that failure to respond to the email would be considered a resignation. Additionally, Trump has ordered that federal employees who have not complied with his return-to-office mandate be placed on administrative leave.

As investigations into the deepfake video incident continue, the federal government faces increasing concerns over cybersecurity vulnerabilities and internal unrest under the new administration.
