Air Canada Suspends JFK Flights for Nearly Five Months Amid Fuel Price Surge

Table of Contents

Air Canada has announced a temporary suspension of its flights to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) for nearly five months due to rising jet fuel costs. The airline confirmed that services from Toronto and Montreal to JFK will stop from June 1 and resume on October 25.

The move comes as global fuel prices continue to climb בעקבות supply disruptions linked to the ongoing Iran conflict. The sharp increase in operational expenses has made certain routes less sustainable, prompting the airline to adjust its schedule.

Despite the suspension, Air Canada will continue operating flights to other major New York-area airports, including LaGuardia and Newark, ensuring connectivity for passengers traveling to the region.

A spokesperson for the airline stated that fuel prices have nearly doubled since the start of the conflict, forcing the company to reconsider lower-margin routes. Affected passengers will be contacted and provided with alternative travel options.

While oil prices showed some decline after Iran signaled that key shipping routes remain open, industry experts warn that uncertainty in fuel supply may continue to impact airline operations in the near term.
