US Lawmakers Call for Probe into Biden Administration’s Action Against Adani Group
Six U.S. Congressmen have demanded an investigation into the Biden administration’s Department of Justice (DoJ) over its action against the Adani Group. In a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi, they criticized the DoJ’s decision to name Adani Group officials in a case related to alleged wrongdoing in India.
The lawmakers—Lance Gooden, Pat Fallon, Mike Haridopolos, Brandon Gill, William R. Timmons, and Brian Babin—called the move a “misguided crusade” that could harm U.S.-India relations. They argued that the case involved allegations of bribery within India and should have been handled by Indian authorities instead of the U.S.
They also questioned the necessity of pursuing legal action when there was “no real injury to U.S. interests.” The Congressmen expressed concern that such actions could discourage foreign investment and strain diplomatic ties, especially with Donald Trump returning to office.
“This case came at the risk of harming our relationship with a strategic partner like India,” they wrote.
They further warned that such political decisions could benefit adversaries like China, affecting U.S. economic interests.
The lawmakers urged Attorney General Bondi to investigate the DoJ’s conduct under Biden and provide all records related to the case. The matter is expected to draw further attention as the new administration takes office.
