‘Terrorists… Promoting Obscenity’: Sunil Pal Slams Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina Over Controversial Remark
New Delhi | February 11, 2025: Comedian Sunil Pal has strongly criticized Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, and Samay Raina for allegedly promoting obscenity on the reality show India’s Got Latent. Expressing his outrage, Pal went as far as labeling them as “terrorists” and called for immediate action against them.
In a recent interview with IANS, Sunil Pal said, "Do not call them stand-up comedians. That would be an insult to real stand-up comedy. They are uneducated individuals who should be treated like terrorists."
Public Outrage Over Ranveer Allahbadia’s Statement
The controversy erupted after a controversial remark made by Ranveer Allahbadia on India’s Got Latent. During the show, he reportedly posed an inappropriate question to a contestant, asking:
“Would you watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join once to stop it forever?”
The remark sparked massive outrage, with audiences and netizens condemning it as crude and offensive. The backlash intensified when a police complaint was lodged against Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, and several co-judges, including Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija. The complaint, filed under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), accuses them of promoting obscene and sexually explicit content on a public platform.
Sunil Pal Calls for Accountability
Reacting to the controversy, Sunil Pal stressed that freedom of speech should not be misused as a defense for indecent content. “Our youth are striving to become responsible and cultured individuals, yet these so-called comedians use public platforms to spread vulgarity. What’s worse is that such events are organized by well-educated individuals who should know better,” he remarked.
Pal further urged authorities to take strict action against the accused, stating, “If they are not punished, future generations will assume that success can be achieved through offensive and abusive behavior.”
Ranveer Allahbadia Issues Apology
Following the uproar, Ranveer Allahbadia released a video statement, acknowledging that his comment was inappropriate. “My remark wasn’t just inappropriate—it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I am here to apologize,” he stated.
He also assured that he had no intention of justifying his statement, adding, “I will not provide any context or justification for what happened. I am simply here to say sorry.”
Despite his public apology, the controversy continues to stir debates on content regulation, digital censorship, and ethical boundaries in entertainment.
Legal & Industry Implications
The incident has ignited discussions among legal and media experts regarding the need for stricter regulations on digital content. The fact that such remarks were made on a widely accessible OTT platform has raised concerns over the influence of content creators on young audiences.
As the matter escalates, authorities are now deliberating on the necessary legal course of action while the entertainment industry faces increasing pressure to ensure ethical and responsible content on public platforms.
