Paris : Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Paris on Monday for a two-day visit to co-chair the AI Action Summit and engage in bilateral discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron. This visit marks a significant step in strengthening India-France ties, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence and technology collaborations.
Strengthening India-France Relations
Ahead of his departure, PM Modi took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to highlight the objectives of his visit. "Over the next few days, I will be in France and the USA to take part in various programmes. In France, I will be taking part in the AI Action Summit, where India is the co-chair. I will be holding talks with President @EmmanuelMacron towards strengthening India-France relations. We will also be going to Marseille to inaugurate a Consulate there," he posted.
During his stay, the Prime Minister will attend a high-profile dinner hosted by President Macron at the Élysée Palace. The event is expected to bring together prominent CEOs from the technology sector and other distinguished guests attending the AI Summit.
AI Action Summit and Key Engagements
On February 11, PM Modi will co-chair the AI Action Summit alongside President Macron. The summit will serve as a platform to discuss advancements in artificial intelligence, ethical AI governance, and potential collaborations between India and France in this sector. He will also hold discussions in both restricted and delegation formats and will address the India-France CEO's Forum, where business leaders from both countries will explore new avenues for trade and technological cooperation.
Additionally, Prime Minister Modi, accompanied by President Macron, is scheduled to inaugurate the new Consulate General of India in Marseille. The move is expected to enhance diplomatic outreach and provide better services to the Indian diaspora in the region.
Tribute to Indian Soldiers in World War I
As part of his visit, PM Modi and President Macron will visit the Mazargues War Cemetery in Marseille on February 12. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission maintains the site, which serves as a memorial for Indian soldiers who made sacrifices during World War I. The visit underscores India's recognition of historical ties and the shared legacy between the two nations.
PM Modi to Visit the US Next
Following his engagements in France, Prime Minister Modi will depart for the United States on February 12 for a two-day visit. During his stay, he is scheduled to meet US President Donald Trump and interact with officials from the new US administration.
