Overweight Doctor Loses 25 Kg in 42 Days, Wins Multiple Fitness Awards

Beijing, China: A Chinese doctor’s remarkable transformation from overweight to a fitness champion in just 42 days has taken social media by storm. Wu Tiangen, a 31-year-old surgeon at Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University, stunned fitness enthusiasts after shedding 25 kg and winning multiple awards at a bodybuilding competition.

Wu, who had been struggling with weight gain due to a sedentary hospital lifestyle, reached 97.5 kg in 2023 and was diagnosed with a light fatty liver condition. Ironically, his medical expertise involved treating obese patients and assisting them in weight loss surgeries. This realization pushed him to take charge of his own health.

"If I cannot save myself, how can I save others?" Wu reportedly said, committing to a rigorous fitness plan.

A Grueling Regimen for Rapid Weight Loss

Determined to turn his life around, Wu sought the guidance of Shi Fan, a renowned athlete and IFBB World Fit Model champion. Together, they developed a strict fitness plan focusing on fat reduction and muscle gain.

Wu followed a disciplined routine that included:

  • Two hours of exercise daily
  • At least six hours of sleep
  • Gradual and sustainable dietary changes

His dedication intensified as he approached the Tianrui Cup Fitness and Bodybuilding Match in January. In the final stretch, he increased his training to nearly four hours a day, surpassing the intensity levels of even professional athletes.

"Wu’s training intensity exceeds that of many professionals," said coach Shi.

Triumphant at the Competition

By the time of the competition, Wu’s weight had dropped to 73.5 kg while maintaining his 182 cm height. Competing against seasoned bodybuilders, Wu defied the odds and emerged victorious. He clinched titles in the newcomer and fit model categories, along with the prestigious most popular participant award.

Wu’s Advice: Focus on Long-Term Health, Not Quick Fixes

Despite his rapid transformation, Wu does not recommend drastic weight-loss methods.

"You should make a long-term plan and stick to it. I do not advocate extreme diets that require eating very little," he advised.

His journey has already inspired over 100 people, whom he has helped achieve sustainable weight loss. Wu’s story stands as a testament to discipline, determination, and the power of self-transformation.
