Tell us about your early life, education, and what led you to start your business
I come from a historic town in Bihar, India, called Darbhanga. Following my dreams, I moved to Delhi and completed my B.Tech in Textiles from Bhiwani, Haryana. I worked in India until 2011 and then moved to China, where I held leading positions in multiple offices. Eventually, in 2021, I decided to register my own company, “The Sourcing Place Co., Ltd.” Later, I expanded its verticals to Hong Kong and India under the same name. Currently, we operate three companies across three countries.

What is your business, and what makes it unique in the market?
We are primarily in the textile and garment business, exporting to countries like Bangladesh, India, Vietnam, Canada, Mexico, and the UK. However, as our company name suggests, our motto is to provide sourcing solutions for our buyers, irrespective of the product. This flexibility has led us to export diverse products such as AdBlue chemicals, chafer fabric for the tire industry, medical products and machines related to COVID-19, engineering tools, tiles, agricultural machinery, and more. We are now venturing into importing quartz stones from India to China—a significant milestone as it marks our foray into imports.
What sets us apart is our model of being a "factory of factories" under one roof. We focus on helping buyers achieve competitive pricing and quality assurance. Additionally, we offer payment solutions to prevent shipment delays. Our flexibility ensures smooth handling of design changes or adjustments in quantity. Unlike traditional factories, we avoid pushing buyers into unreasonable situations. This buyer-centric approach makes us unique in China, creating an experience where our clients feel as if they’re working with their own office, not just a supplier.

As we approach the fifth year of our establishment, we have reached several milestones. One significant achievement was starting to work with Walmart. This collaboration exposed us to challenging scenarios involving high volumes, sharp pricing, and stringent quality requirements. Working with such a serious player helped us sharpen our processes and understand the demands of a competitive global market.

What are your future goals for the business?
Our goals are well-defined, with the most ambitious one being to establish a manufacturing setup based on the same hybrid model as The Sourcing Place. We aim to produce high-end, sustainable, and futuristic fabrics, leveraging my technical knowledge as a textile graduate. In the short term, we are focused on generating sufficient business resources for our three companies, serving more buyers, and fostering strong, long-term relationships.

How do you stay competitive in your industry?
The textile and garment industry is becoming increasingly focused and demanding, with price targets reducing while quality expectations rise. Surviving as a company founded in China during the COVID-19 pandemic has been one of our greatest challenges and accomplishments. Our unique approach to business continues to attract buyers.
We collaborate with a vast network of factories and aggressively work on pricing and lead times to meet buyer requirements. Most factories operate with a rigid approach, but we focus on understanding the buyer's price and lead time needs and finding ways to meet them. As a "factory of factories," we operate like a vertically aligned manufacturing company, yet we prioritize making our buyers feel at home. We also ensure transparency, including mill visits. Our efforts have consistently left buyers satisfied, and we are committed to maintaining this level of excellence.

What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs?
Entrepreneurship is more than just a long word—it carries a profound meaning. It cannot be strictly defined, formatted, or taught. It requires interpersonal skills, the ability to take calculated risks, and a unique skill set as a foundation. Before starting my company, I continually asked myself whether the world truly needed “The Sourcing Place” and why. After thorough due diligence and internal dialogue, I moved forward with a positive answer.
For most entrepreneurs, including me, money is not the deciding factor. When I started, I didn’t have much, but with a clear plan, everything else followed. My advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is to stay committed to their vision and let their unique skills guide them toward success.
