
US Extends Greetings to India on 76th Republic Day
The United States has extended warm wishes to India on the occasion of its 76th Republic Day. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio congratulated the people of India and highlighted the country’s democratic foundation as a cornerstone of the world’s largest democracy.
In an official statement, Rubio said, “On behalf of the United States of America, I congratulate the people of India as they celebrate their nation's Republic Day. As they commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India, we join them in recognizing its enduring significance.”
He also emphasized the growing strength of the India-US partnership, calling it a “defining relationship of the 21st century.” Rubio noted that the collaboration between the two nations spans key areas such as space research, economic development, and regional security.
The statement also highlighted the importance of the Quad alliance, comprising the United States, India, Japan, and Australia, to ensure peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
Celebrations in India
India marked its 76th Republic Day with grand celebrations at the Kartavya Path, showcasing its cultural diversity, military strength, and unity. President Droupadi Murmu led the ceremony, while Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto attended as the Chief Guest.
Strengthening Bilateral Ties
Earlier in the week, Rubio hosted a meeting with the foreign ministers of the Quad nations in Washington, D.C. Discussions focused on advancing economic opportunities, enhancing security, and strengthening regional ties.
Rubio also held talks with India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to discuss ways to deepen the India-US partnership. The meeting addressed regional issues and explored opportunities for collaboration in areas such as space exploration and economic development.
The US statement reaffirmed its commitment to fostering closer ties with India and working together to address shared challenges and opportunities.
