Rohit Sharma Addresses Retirement Rumors
Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma has clarified rumors about his retirement after missing the fifth Test of the India vs Australia series in Sydney. The 38-year-old decided to sit out due to poor form, scoring just 31 runs in five innings during the series.
Rohit explained his decision, saying, "I stood down because I was not in form. It was a tough call, but the team needed a win, and I felt it was best to step aside." He also dismissed retirement speculation, emphasizing, "This is not a retirement decision. I believe in myself and will continue to play. Life changes every day, and I’m confident about scoring runs in the future."
Rohit added that his decision opened the door for Shubman Gill to play in the crucial fifth match as India trails 1-2 in the series. He concluded, "I’ve always prioritized the team. It’s about teamwork, and I want to win matches for India."
