As India prepares to mark its 76th Republic Day on January 26, 2025, the stage is set for a grand spectacle on Kartavya Path in New Delhi. This year’s celebration carries the theme "Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas" (Golden India: Heritage and Development), reflecting the country’s commitment to preserving its rich cultural legacy while embracing modernity and progress.

Showcasing Unity in Diversity

The Republic Day parade is a quintessential representation of India’s cultural diversity and unity. It features tableaux from various states, union territories, and government ministries, each depicting unique aspects of the nation’s heritage and achievements.

This year, 15 states and union territories have been selected to present their tableaux:

  • Andhra Pradesh
  • Bihar
  • Chandigarh
  • Dadra and Nagar Haveli & Daman and Diu
  • Goa
  • Gujarat
  • Haryana
  • Jharkhand
  • Karnataka
  • Madhya Pradesh
  • Punjab
  • Tripura
  • Uttarakhand
  • Uttar Pradesh
  • West Bengal

Additionally, 15 central ministries and government departments will also participate, showcasing India’s advancements in various sectors, including technology, defense, and social development.

Bharat Parv: A Platform for Broader Representation

States and union territories not included in the parade on Kartavya Path will still have the chance to showcase their creativity and cultural vibrancy at Bharat Parv, a week-long cultural extravaganza held at the Red Fort from January 26 to January 31. This initiative ensures an inclusive platform for all regions, fostering a spirit of unity and pride across the nation.

Meticulous Tableaux Preparation

Preparations for the Republic Day tableaux began months in advance, with designs finalized during a high-level meeting in April 2024. Officials emphasized that the tableaux should be visually impactful and easy to understand without relying on written descriptions.

Key Guidelines for Tableaux:

  • Language Display: Names of states and union territories must appear in Hindi at the front and English at the back, with regional languages on the sides.
  • Prohibition of Text: Written explanations and logos are generally not allowed unless explicitly approved by the committee.
  • Innovative Design: Ministries and departments are encouraged to incorporate virtual reality elements using CDs and DVDs to enhance visual appeal.

A Grand Celebration of India’s Legacy

The Republic Day parade serves as a vivid reminder of India’s unity in diversity. From traditional dance forms and historical monuments to cutting-edge innovations and ambitious development projects, this event captures the essence of a nation that honors its past while forging a bright future.

As the parade unfolds on Kartavya Path, millions across the country and the world will witness the vibrant tableau of "Swarnim Bharat," a proud testament to India’s journey of heritage and progress.
