Vancouver: Prince Harry, currently in Canada for the 2025 Invictus Games, shared a touching family moment during an interview with Canadian television network CTV. The Duke of Sussex revealed that his son, Archie, recently inquired about his late grandmother, Princess Diana, leading to an emotional conversation about her legacy.

Harry, who has often spoken about keeping his mother’s memory alive, explained how the topic came up unexpectedly. "Archie was asking about landmines, which led to a conversation about my mum—his grandmother—something I hadn’t really thought about before in that context," he shared. "He then saw videos and wanted to see photos of his grandma Diana doing her work with landmines years ago. It was a deeply meaningful discussion, quite different from what I initially expected."

Princess Diana was widely recognized for her humanitarian efforts, particularly her advocacy for landmine removal. She worked closely with The HALO Trust, a non-profit organization dedicated to removing landmines from conflict zones. Her famous visit to an Angolan minefield in 1997, where she walked through a recently cleared path wearing protective gear, remains one of her most iconic moments.

Following in his mother’s footsteps, Prince Harry has been actively involved with The HALO Trust. In 2013, he became a patron of the organization and, in 2019, retraced Diana’s steps by visiting a minefield in Angola. Speaking at the same location where his mother once stood, he reflected on the progress made in demining efforts and emphasized the need to continue her mission.

"It has been quite emotional retracing my mother’s steps, seeing the transformation that has taken place—from an unsafe and desolate place into a vibrant community," he remarked during the visit.

During his conversation with CTV, Harry also spoke about how he and his wife, Meghan Markle, are ensuring that their children, Archie and Lilibet, grow up understanding their grandmother’s legacy. "We keep pictures of Grandma Diana around the house. Archie knows who she is, and we make sure that her presence is always part of our lives," he said.

Prince Harry and Meghan are currently in Vancouver for the Invictus Games, an international sporting event for wounded and recovering military personnel that Harry founded in 2014. The couple remains dedicated to their philanthropic work while also balancing family life and honoring the memory of Princess Diana.
