Lahore – New Zealand stormed into the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final after securing a 50-run victory over South Africa in the second semifinal at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. Despite a fighting century from David Miller, the Proteas fell short while chasing a mammoth 363-run target, paving the way for a New Zealand vs India final in Dubai on Sunday.

Williamson, Ravindra Star in NZ’s Massive Total

Opting to bat first, New Zealand put up an imposing 362/6 on the board, thanks to stunning centuries from Kane Williamson (102) and Rachin Ravindra (108). The duo stitched together a 164-run partnership for the second wicket, providing a solid foundation for the innings.

Additional contributions from Daryl Mitchell (49) and Glenn Phillips (49)* in the latter stages helped the Kiwis breach the 350-run mark, leaving South Africa with an uphill battle in their chase.

Williamson also created history, becoming the first New Zealand batter to surpass 19,000 international runs during his knock.

Miller’s Century in Vain as South Africa Falters

In response, South Africa started positively, with their top order keeping pace with the required rate. However, a middle-order collapse derailed their chase, leaving them struggling despite Miller’s heroic effort.

Miller remained unbeaten on 100, reaching his century on the final ball of the match, but with little support from the other batters, South Africa eventually fell short at 313/9.

With this victory, New Zealand will now face India in the Champions Trophy final in Dubai, setting up an exciting showdown between the two cricketing giants.
