
New Orleans Truck Attack: Victims Identified So Far
Fifteen people lost their lives and 30 were injured in a tragic attack on New Year’s Day in New Orleans’ French Quarter. A U.S. Army veteran drove a truck with an ISIS flag into a crowd of revelers, swerving past makeshift barriers. While authorities have not officially released all the victims' names, family members and associates have identified four individuals who died in the attack.
Nicole Perez (28)
Nicole Perez, a devoted mother and employee, had recently been promoted and was moving into a new apartment with her 4-year-old son. Known for her dedication and hard work, Perez often brought her son to the deli where she worked and played spelling games with him. Her boss, Kimberly Usher, shared, “She was about to start a new life with her son, and now that’s no more.”
Tiger Bech (27)
Tiger Bech, a Princeton University graduate and former football player, was visiting from New York for the holidays. Described by his high school principal, Marty Cannon, as “an intellectual and an impressive athlete,” Bech was a standout on and off the field. His depth and achievements left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Nikyra Cheyenne Dedeaux (18)
Aspiring nurse Nikyra Dedeaux was celebrating New Year’s in New Orleans with friends. She was set to start a nursing program at Blue Cliff College later in January. Her mother, Melissa Dedeaux, expressed her grief on social media, saying, “My baby is gone, y’all. She is no longer with us.”
Reggie Hunter (37)
Reggie Hunter, a father of two from Baton Rouge, was known for his pride in his son’s academic success and his love of fitness. As a warehouse manager, Hunter was admired by his friends and family for his dedication and positivity.
