Maha Kumbh 2025 Concludes: Nashik to Host Next Kumbh Mela in 2027

The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, one of the largest spiritual gatherings in the world, concluded in Prayagraj after 45 days of religious celebrations. This year’s event witnessed an unprecedented 66 crore devotees taking a sacred dip at the Triveni Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers.

Where and When is the Next Kumbh Mela?

The next Kumbh Mela will be held in Nashik, Maharashtra, at Trimbakeshwar, a city situated on the banks of the Godavari River. The religious event is scheduled to take place from July 17 to August 17, 2027. Trimbakeshwar is home to one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and is considered a sacred destination for Hindus.

Maharashtra Gears Up for 2027 Kumbh Mela

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, speaking at the NASSCOM Technology and Leadership Forum 2025 in Mumbai, announced plans to integrate cutting-edge technology into the 2027 Nashik Kumbh Mela. The initiative aims to provide virtual access to the sacred event for devotees who are unable to attend in person.

Why is the Next Kumbh Mela in Just Three Years?

The Kumbh Mela is organized in a rotational cycle across four cities:

  • Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh)
  • Haridwar (Uttarakhand)
  • Nashik (Maharashtra)
  • Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh)

The event is held at different intervals:

  • Kumbh Mela – Every four years
  • Ardh Kumbh Mela – Every six years
  • Purna Kumbh Mela – Every 12 years
  • Maha Kumbh Mela – Once in 144 years

The grand event in Prayagraj saw participation from several prominent figures, including:
