Humble Roots, Lasting Lessons

Tell us about your early life, education, and career journey

I didn’t come from a background where everything was handed to me. My early life was shaped by watching my family work hard to make ends meet, and that taught me the value of perseverance. After earning my Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in Accounting, I made plenty of mistakes, some small, some that felt huge at the time. But each misstep pushed me to learn, adapt, and keep moving forward. My career has been less about following a straight path and more about picking myself up after setbacks and finding new ways to serve others with the skills I’ve built.

Purpose in Every Connection

What is your current role, and what do you enjoy most about your work?

Today, I’m the owner of Aragon Tax Return Services. What I enjoy most isn’t just the numbers or the technical side, it’s the chance to connect with people who are facing their own challenges. I know what it’s like to feel uncertain or overwhelmed, and I find fulfillment in helping others through those moments. The relationships I’ve built and the trust my clients place in me are what keep me inspired.

Moments That Matter Most

What has been your proudest professional accomplishment?

Honestly, my proudest accomplishments go beyond the usual awards and recognitions, though I’m deeply honored by them. Being chosen to travel to Dubai as a finalist for the Entrepreneur of the Year award was a surreal moment. Standing among inspiring leaders from around the world reminded me how far I’ve come from my humble beginnings and how much is possible when you keep pushing forward, no matter the obstacles.

Another milestone that stands out is being selected as one of the Men Leaders to Look Up To in 2025 by Passion Vista and their group. Recognition like that doesn’t just validate my efforts, it’s a reminder that others are watching, and that my story can inspire someone else to keep going, even when things get tough.

But at the end of the day, what means the most to me are the quiet, everyday victories: helping clients get back on track, seeing someone regain hope after a setback, or simply knowing I made a positive impact in someone’s life. Those are the moments that fuel my passion and keep me striving to be better, not just as a business owner, but as a person.

Rising Above the Past

What is one major challenge you’ve faced in your career, and how did you overcome it?

One of the biggest challenges I faced was overcoming a felony at a young age. That experience could have easily defined my future, but I made a conscious decision not to let it. Instead, I focused on rebuilding my life, learning from my mistakes, and proving, to myself and others, that people can change. It took years of hard work, self-reflection, and persistence, but I refused to let my past dictate my potential. Today, being recognized as a respected business leader is a testament to the power of resilience and the belief that your story isn’t finished until you decide it is.

Always Evolving

How do you stay ahead in your industry?

Staying ahead is less about being perfect and more about being persistent. I make it a point to keep learning, not just from courses and certifications, but from my own failures and the people around me. I try new things, even if I’m not sure they’ll work out. I listen, adapt, and keep moving forward, no matter how many times I have to start over. Growth comes from being willing to get back up, again and again.

Words to Grow By

What advice would you give to young professionals aiming for success?

  • Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, they’re your best teachers.

  • Surround yourself with people who challenge and support you.

  • Stay true to your values, even when it’s hard.

  • Remember that setbacks are part of the journey, not the end of it.

  • Keep moving forward, even when progress feels slow.

  • Success isn’t about never falling, it’s about always getting back up.

Conclusion: Defined by Determination

Manuel Aragon’s journey reminds us that true success isn’t defined by where we start, but by how we choose to move forward.
