Elon Musk Claims 'Massive Cyberattack' on X Amid Global Outages

Table of Contents

Elon Musk, CEO of X (formerly Twitter), has claimed that the platform is under a "massive cyberattack" following a series of global outages that left thousands of users unable to access the social media site.

Musk suggested that the attack might be orchestrated by a large, coordinated group or possibly a nation-state.

"Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved," Musk wrote on X late Monday. He added that his team was actively tracing the origins of the attack.

Widespread Disruptions Reported

Earlier in the day, Downdetector, a website that tracks online service disruptions, reported a surge in outage reports related to X.

  • In the US, more than 40,000 users experienced difficulties logging in, posting content, and refreshing their feeds.
  • In the UK, over 10,800 users reported similar issues.
  • Reports also surfaced from India and other regions, though the scale of the disruptions varied.

The exact cause of the outage remains unclear, and X has yet to release an official statement on the matter.

Ongoing Investigation

Musk’s team is reportedly working to analyze and mitigate the attack, though no further details have been provided.

With X being a major platform for global communication, any sustained disruption could have significant implications for users, businesses, and digital infrastructure worldwide.
