US Will Relentlessly Pursue ISIS: Biden After New Orleans Terror Attack
President Joe Biden has reaffirmed the United States' commitment to fighting ISIS and other terrorist organizations following the New Orleans terror attack on New Year's Eve. The attack, carried out by Shamsud Din Jabbar, an ISIS supporter, involved ramming a vehicle into a crowd, resulting in 15 deaths, including the attacker, and injuring 35 people.
Biden assured the public that no evidence suggests other individuals were involved in the attack. The FBI confirmed that Jabbar had also planted explosives in two ice coolers near the French Quarter hours before the vehicle assault. An ISIS flag was found in his vehicle, and videos he posted prior to the attack expressed his strong allegiance to the terrorist group.
"The US will relentlessly pursue ISIS and other terrorist organizations wherever they are. They will find no safe harbor here," Biden emphasized.
The President also addressed the potential connection between the New Orleans attack and a Tesla Cybertruck explosion in Las Vegas. While both vehicles were rented from the same platform, Turo, no evidence has yet linked the two incidents. The Las Vegas explosion, which killed one person and injured seven, is still under investigation.
Federal law enforcement and intelligence agencies are actively probing any domestic or international links to the New Orleans attacker. Biden assured that the US remains committed to preventing and addressing such acts of terrorism.
