About

For Dr. Theresa Pringle, meaningful change cannot be created from a distance. It requires understanding the people affected, confronting the systems that are not working, and having the courage to turn lived experience into practical action. Having personally experienced varying degrees of homelessness and navigated the barriers of broken systems, Dr. Pringle transformed adversity, challenges and barriers into a lifelong commitment to educating to empower individuals as well as businesses and the faith-based community ,advocacy that ignites policy change, interactive training that incorporates real simulations, community service that brings about meaningful impact, and sustainable change that assist individuals to get on their feet and stay on their feet. Her philosophy captures that purpose simply: “Make It Make Sense. Change The Mindset. Change The Outcome.”

Her journey is deeply rooted in lived expertise. During a difficult chapter as a mother determined to create opportunities for her sons, Dr. Pringle experienced housing instability and discovered firsthand how challenging it can be for individuals and families to regain stability when policies, programs, and support systems do not adequately reflect their realities or effectively address the challenges that can remove the multi-layered barriers. Rather than allowing the experience to define her, she used it to better understand the why and how people fall through the very cracks that have been designed to help avoid systemic gaps and what must change to help them not only get on their feet, but stay on their feet.

That understanding became central to Dr. Pringle’s work as Founder and CEO of Pringle’s Training Services and President of Pringle’s Pit Stop, two organizations connected by a commitment to empowerment but serving distinct purposes. Pringle’s Training Services emphasizes “training the trainer,” working with corporate leadership, community organizations, nonprofit and service providers, and the faith-based community across leadership development, communication, family empowerment, employee readiness a prerequisite to workforce transition, coaching, and interactive training. By equipping those who lead and serve others with practical tools and guidance, Dr. Pringle helps create what she calls “Proactive Options Over Reactive Responses.”

Pringle’s Pit Stop focuses on true street outreach- meeting people where they are accepting people as they are, housing stabilization and retention, recognizing that securing an apartment is only one part of achieving lasting stability. Maintaining housing can require daily living skills to include but not limited to travel training, food preparation and the cleaning and upkeep of the unit, continued guidance, resources, and support. Dr. Pringle also challenges the assumption to dispel the illusion that affordable housing is not affordable when there are set aside for very low and low-income individuals and families which we need to advocate for more of so that the numbers reflect a higher distribution allowing those who meet the income guidelines for very low and low-income families to have an opportunity to become housing stable. Her focus is therefore not simply getting people housed, but empowering them to remain housed, stabilize, reacclimate within their communities, and ultimately get on their feet and stay on their feet growing themselves in the process.

Through interactive presentations, real-world simulations, coaching, masterminds, and professional development, Dr. Pringle weaves an “invisible thread” between those providing training and services and those experiencing disparity. Her work is not limited to homelessness services. By strengthening corporate leaders, community organizations, nonprofits, service providers, and faith-based organizations, she creates an ongoing collaborative effort in which knowledge, skills, and practical resources can empower people to rise above adversity, challenges, and barriers.

Long before homelessness became a defining chapter in her journey, education and exposure to different social systems were shaping Dr. Pringle’s perspective. She attended Westfield Senior High School, Union County College, and Kean College of New Jersey, while her school experiences in Denmark and England broadened her understanding of psychology, gerontology, juvenile justice-rehabilitative systems, healthcare and social service systems. She was also involved in deinstitutionalization work with youth and adults and developed experience in behavioral management and what it takes for individuals coming out of institutions to be integrated into a better quality of life. Dr. Pringle later successfully defended her thesis, earning her Doctor of Philosophy specializing in Business Leadership and Administration.

Her work extends from training in direct community and policy engagement at municipal, city, county, state, and federal levels. She has assisted community members in accessing programs, supported employee-readiness activities through NJ Transit, initiated voter-registration drives, and advocated in Washington, D.C. Her leadership has included service as an Executive Board member of The Coalition of The Homeless, one of Newark Mayor Ras Baraka’s two-term Commissioners on Homelessness, and nationally as a Region 1 Leadership Council Member for NSBA.

Grounded in her principle, “Proactive Options Over Reactive Responses,” Dr. Pringle encourages organizations to honestly assess the strengths and weaknesses of their policies, programs, procedures, and services. By combining business acumen, lived expertise, training, and policy development, she seeks practical and sustainable solutions informed by the people who have actually navigated the systems being addressed.

Her service has also received national and international recognition. In 2024, Dr. Pringle received the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award during the Biden-Harris administration, recognizing her sustained civic service and community leadership. She has also been recognized among the Global Trade Chamber’s 100 Successful Women in Business, as Visionary Entrepreneur and Life Coach of the Year through the IN2FUTURE/International Eminence Excellence Awards in Dubai, as Change Maker of the Year at the 16th World Leaders Summit in Oxford, UK, and through the Global Impact Summit. Her honorary distinctions also include her appointment as a Global Peace Ambassador and other honorariums.

Yet recognition is not what ultimately defines her impact. Fondly known in communities as “Ma Dukes” and “OG,” Dr. Pringle remains committed to a boots-on-the-ground moving with focus and direction. Whether training leaders and service professionals, advocating for policy change, supporting families and communities, or helping individuals navigate barriers. Her work remains anchored in “Meeting People Where They Are, Accepting People As They Are.”

For Dr. Pringle, visionary leadership means connecting lived expertise, training, community needs, and policy to create meaningful outcomes. That invisible thread runs throughout her work, from strengthening those who serve others to helping individuals achieve housing stability and greater independence. By turning experience into education, education into empowerment, and empowerment into action, Dr. Theresa Pringle continues helping people and communities move from reactive responses toward proactive possibilities.
