Ram Trucks to Offer 10-Year Powertrain Warranty in 2026 Turnaround Push
Detroit – Ram Trucks, a division of Stellantis, will introduce an industry-leading 10-year or 100,000-mile powertrain warranty across its 2026 model lineup, doubling its current 5-year coverage as part of a broader turnaround strategy.
The expanded warranty applies to the engine, transmission, transfer case, driveshafts, differentials, and axles for all retail and leased Ram trucks and vans, excluding fleet sales and electric ProMaster vans.
“Truck buyers are financing longer and keeping their vehicles longer. The warranty hasn’t kept pace, until now,” said Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis, who returned in December to lead brand revival efforts.
The move comes amid rising vehicle prices and extended financing terms. Edmunds reported that nearly 20% of new-car loans now stretch 84 months, prompting concerns over post-warranty coverage gaps.
Ram’s U.S. sales have declined 38% since 2019, falling behind Ford, Chevrolet, GMC, and Toyota, all of which currently offer 5-year or 60,000-mile limited powertrain warranties.
“If reception is strong, we plan to extend the offer beyond 2026,” Kuniskis added, emphasizing customer retention and brand loyalty.
Though longer warranties carry financial risk, Kuniskis said Ram’s calculations showed customer value outweighs cost exposure. The offer echoes similar coverage from Kia, which has long offered a 10-year/100,000-mile warranty across its new vehicle lineup.
