Washington: US President Donald Trump has announced that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit the White House next month, likely in February. The revelation came during an interaction with reporters aboard Air Force One on Monday, while President Trump was en route to Joint Base Andrews from Florida.

“I had a long talk with him this morning. He is going to be coming to the White House over the next month, probably February. We have a very good relationship with India,” Trump shared, highlighting his strong rapport with the Indian leader.

The announcement followed a phone conversation between the two leaders earlier on Monday. Responding to questions about the discussion, Trump said, “Everything came up,” but he did not elaborate further on specific topics.

A History of Strong Bilateral Ties

President Trump and Prime Minister Modi have shared a close friendship, often lauded for strengthening the strategic partnership between India and the United States. Their camaraderie has been showcased at several high-profile events, including the "Howdy Modi" rally in Houston in September 2019 and the "Namaste Trump" rally in Ahmedabad in February 2020, both of which drew massive crowds.

This upcoming visit would mark another significant moment in their partnership. Notably, PM Modi was among the first three world leaders to speak with President Trump following his re-election victory in November 2024, underscoring the importance of India-US ties.

Trump’s Last Foreign Visit as President

During his first term, President Trump’s final foreign visit was to India, where he and PM Modi addressed a gathering of over 100,000 people at the Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad. This visit further solidified their mutual respect and the close ties between the two nations.

The anticipated February meeting between the two leaders is expected to focus on further strengthening bilateral relations, with discussions likely to include trade, technology, defense, and regional security issues.

As the world watches, the meeting is set to reaffirm the strong bond between India and the United States, driven by the personal rapport between their leaders.
