Early Life and Education of Reni John

Tell us something about you, your early life and education?
Early life was about me being eager to learn. I was always mesmerized by the idea of being a part of an innovative environment. I knew at the age of 13 as an avid reader I wanted to become something. Spearhead an idea, that in my head at the time, made sense. So I would get lost in these ideas and start researching, trying to find opportunities that would help me learn about the idea get some hands on experience. And so...I went on to explore marketing and creativity, post grad law school and then real estate. Somehow they all linked up at the time I was going through them as one experience brought me to another.

Business Overview

Tell us about the business and its presence in the target market?
Ready Room is an interior design solutions company, which means we can do as small as design and concept up to a full turnkey project. Dubai is a growing city and we have tried to stay with this growth and draw out a target market for ReadyRoom. The target market for us started with foreign and local residential owners buying and setting up holiday homes here in Dubai. It then grew to owners who wanted to have their homes designed, furnished and styled. Further from that it now stands that our target market ranges from the fore mentioned to now commercial spaces that are in the need for some super creative spaces and ideas. Now, after 5 years, we have adapted to tries to include Tech with the use of Fintech products in our processes and trying to develop a solution for the mass market in terms of furnishing options and how to achieve this. Still looking for a suitable investor for this idea, but nonetheless I don’t stop doing my research and gathering the ever changing knowledge in this spectrum.

What are some of the growth and expansion plans you have in your pipeline? 
More Digital presence, like I said looking for the suitable investors who will understand and come on this journey with me to enhance the solution that I want to create for the Dubai market. And hopefully if we can hack it then expand to MENA.

Adapting to Market Challenges

How has the year been for your company? 
2023 was a transformative year for us - as the market saturated and so did the suppliers in the market who were providing the same solutions as READYROM. However, I have to say one thing I did learn and have excelled as is the service and the customer experience we give makes a BIG DIFFERENCE. At the end of the day creativity doesn’t come to everyone and neither does good service standards. So, 2023 going into 2024 READYRROOM has made a name for maintaining these professional standards high and we are no longer the beginners - we are on our way to bigger for sure.

What does your business offer as per the current competitive market? 
Great Design for Great Pricing at Dedicated Timelines. We don’t take every project - but when we do confirm a client it’s never shy of 100% of what we promised. We also are good at managing clients expectations and coming up with solutions otherwise. For example a pivot in the real estate sector that has affected ID are the ever slimming down of the sizes of the properties. Apartments and even Townhouses have become smaller and smaller in sizes. These lead us to going and coming up with more creative solutions for the purpose of furnishing and styling.

What measures do you think employees and organizations can take to build effective teamwork and unity? 
The team has to be aligned with the company’s vision and mission. If they can’t be aligned with your discipline, beliefs and ultimately the taste in design - it will prove to be a difficult journey. Once you are aligned, the ideas grow effortlessly; the work just becomes less stressful and more exciting.
 
Tell us about the company’s focus and investment in research and innovation? 
ReadyRoom's focus has been on research, upcoming trends, the next big thing in terms of design, materials etc. While we have seen major innovation from Chinese suppliers we have also seen some super innovation from the Italian suppliers. We have started now collaborating with award winning decor items - with some big names backing them up. Ultimately the focus and goal for Readyroom is to set up our online presence in a way where we are providing mass solutions.

Any tips for startups looking to get onto the similar pathway? 
Believe in yourself and in your ideas. Back the idea up with research, feedback from customers and your team as well. The only way to succeed is to go through the failure as well - so be emotionally mature to handle these. Be a humble leader, support the team not only with work but also in their own growth, see their strengths and help them grow from there. The number of times I’ve had to let go of people because they couldn’t perform - countless. But you have to also take these hard decisions and start all over again with new team members so patience is key.
