Elon Musk Deletes Kanye West's X Account After Controversial Posts
Kanye West's latest controversy on social media has once again put him in the spotlight, this time leading to the deletion of his account on X (formerly Twitter) by the platform's owner, Elon Musk. The move came shortly after West posted a series of inflammatory remarks and controversial content that sparked widespread backlash.
A Pattern of Controversy
West, 47, has frequently used social media as a platform for his unfiltered thoughts. His latest public antics began at the Grammy Awards, where he asked his wife, Bianca Censori, to remove her black coat, revealing a see-through dress for photographers. This bold move fueled discussions online, with West boasting that his wife's Google search numbers surpassed those of the Grammy Awards themselves.
However, West's social media activity soon took a darker turn. In a recent podcast interview, he claimed that he was not bipolar but rather autistic—an assertion met with skepticism. His X account became a space for increasingly controversial statements, including anti-Semitic, misogynistic, and racist remarks, which quickly drew widespread condemnation.
The Final Straw
Among his most controversial actions, West declared himself a Nazi, insulted Jewish communities, advocated for the release of Sean "Diddy" Combs from prison, and even posted Nazi-themed clothing for sale on his website. His attacks extended to overweight women, and he reportedly shared explicit content on his X account.
These actions led to a strong reaction from public figures, including David Schwimmer and Piers Morgan, who called for his account to be permanently suspended.
"Elon stopped following me, so I don’t know how much longer I’ll be on Twitter/X," West posted, before providing a link to his official merchandise page.
Despite knowing his account was at risk, West expressed gratitude towards Musk for allowing him to "vent" on the platform. "I appreciate Elon for allowing me to vent. It has been very cathartic to use the world as a sounding board. It was like an Ayahuasca trip. Love all of you who gave me your energy and attention. Until we connect again, good afternoon and good night," he wrote.
Elon Musk’s Response
Following a final tirade about Taylor Swift during the Super Bowl, West’s X account was deleted. Musk later confirmed that West’s posts had led to the account being classified as "NSFW" (not safe for work) and would no longer be visible to the public.
Musk’s decision reflects a growing tension between free speech advocacy and the need to moderate harmful content on X. While he has previously reinstated controversial figures, West’s repeated violations seemingly left Musk with no choice but to remove him from the platform.
West’s social media presence has long been a subject of debate, and his latest actions have only intensified concerns about his behavior and its impact on public discourse. Whether he will return to another platform or continue his online provocations elsewhere remains to be seen.
