Former Trump adviser Dina Powell McCormick exits Meta board after eight months
Dina Powell McCormick, a former senior adviser in Donald Trump’s first administration, has resigned from the board of Meta, ending a tenure that lasted less than a year.
Powell McCormick notified Meta of her resignation on Friday, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The filing said the resignation was effective immediately and did not disclose a reason for her departure.
Meta does not plan to appoint a replacement for her board seat, according to a person familiar with the matter. The person added that Powell McCormick may take on a strategic advisory role with the company, though no decision has been finalised.
Powell McCormick joined Meta’s board in April alongside Stripe co-founder and CEO Patrick Collison. At the time, Meta chief executive Mark Zuckerberg said the new directors would add valuable experience in supporting businesses and entrepreneurs.
Before joining Meta, Powell McCormick spent 16 years at Goldman Sachs and later served in senior roles across government and finance. She was deputy national security adviser during Trump’s first term and previously served as an assistant secretary of state under President George W. Bush.
She is currently vice chair, president, and head of global client services at BDT & MSD Partners, formed in 2023 following the merger of merchant bank BDT and Michael Dell’s investment firm MSD. She is also married to U.S. Senator Dave McCormick of Pennsylvania, who took office in January.
Following her exit, Meta’s board now has 14 members, including UFC president Dana White, Broadcom chief executive Hock Tan, and former Enron executive John Arnold.
