Boeing Delivers Most Aircraft Since 2023 as 737 Max Output Climbs

Boeing delivered 60 commercial aircraft in June, its highest monthly total since December 2023, as it continues to ramp up production of its 737 Max jets following safety and manufacturing setbacks.

The figure includes 42 737 Max jets delivered to major carriers such as SouthwestAlaska, and United Airlines. The rebound comes after a door plug failure on a 737 Max 9 in January 2024 halted production growth and prompted tighter regulatory oversight.

The company delivered 150 aircraft in Q2, marking its best second-quarter performance since 2018, the year before two Max crashes led to a global grounding of the fleet and deepened Boeing’s financial woes.

CEO Kelly Ortberg, who took the helm last August, said the company is making progress on stabilizing production and improving quality across its lines.

Current monthly output is capped at 38 jets, pending FAA approval to exceed that limit. Ortberg recently said Boeing is confident it can reach 42 aircraft per month once cleared.

In June, Boeing also recorded 116 gross orders, or 70 net orders after cancellations. Its aircraft backlog stood at 5,953 units as of June 30.

The company will report Q2 financial results on July 29, with investors watching closely for signs of production expansion and delivery consistency.
