UP Woman Missing for 4 Months Found Dead in Kanpur’s VVIP Area; Gym Trainer Confesses to Murder
New Delhi: In a disturbing turn of events, the body of a woman from Uttar Pradesh who had been missing since June 24 was found buried in Kanpur's high-security VVIP area, close to the District Magistrate’s bungalow. The accused, identified as Vimal Soni, a gym trainer from Kanpur’s Green Park area, allegedly confessed to the crime, citing personal conflicts as a motive.
The woman, a resident of Kanpur's Raipurwa area, had reportedly gone missing four months ago. Following extensive investigations, police uncovered that she had likely been murdered shortly after her disappearance. Kanpur's Deputy Commissioner of Police (North), Shravan Kumar Singh, informed the media that the woman was allegedly distressed over Soni’s impending marriage.
According to police reports, on the day of the incident, the woman had gone to the gym after a prolonged absence. A conversation with Soni escalated into an argument, during which he struck her in the neck, causing her to lose consciousness. Tragically, this led to her murder, after which he buried her body in an area designated for government officials' bungalows.
Challenging Investigation Process
The investigation proved challenging, as the accused reportedly refrained from using a mobile phone, complicating his tracking. Despite this, police teams were dispatched to Pune, Agra, and Punjab in search of leads. DCP Singh mentioned that they are also examining whether the accused took any jewelry that the woman was wearing at the time.
Currently, the case is registered at the Kotwali district police station, and authorities are pursuing legal action while probing all possible angles to bring justice to the victim's family.
