Odysseas Economides

Odysseas Economides represents a new generation of European technology leaders who are building not only products, but ecosystems. As Managing Director of HardwareX and a driving force behind ROBO Educational and Research Robotics in Cyprus, he stands at the intersection of hardware engineering, embedded systems innovation, and entrepreneurial mentorship. His journey reflects a blend of technical depth, startup agility, and a long-term commitment to strengthening the regional tech landscape.

Based in Nicosia, Cyprus, Odysseas has built his expertise around embedded systems engineering, combining hardware and software development to deliver custom solutions for clients and in-house projects. With over five years of hands-on experience in electronics research and development, he has led projects involving schematic and PCB design, embedded programming, and advanced prototyping using tools such as Fusion360, FDM and SLA 3D printing, and laser cutting. His work reflects a practical, solution-oriented approach to innovation, where ideas move efficiently from concept to functional systems.

At HardwareX, where he serves as Managing Director, he translates technical expertise into strategic leadership. His role extends beyond engineering execution to overseeing project coordination, product direction, and client delivery within the hardware and software technology space. Simultaneously, at ROBO Educational and Research Robotics, he evolved from Embedded Systems Engineer to Managing Director, demonstrating both technical mastery and organizational leadership.

His career is marked by multidisciplinary exposure. As a Research Engineer at the KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence, he worked on custom add-on electronics systems for UAVs, contributing to research-driven innovation in advanced technologies. Earlier roles in product management and software engineering further expanded his capabilities, including leading development teams and building mobile and web applications using React Native, ReactJS, and NodeJS.

Entrepreneurship has also been central to his journey. As Co-Founder of Teembly, a mobile application designed to connect football teams, he successfully brought a startup concept to market through the IDEA incubator, releasing it on both Google Play and the App Store. His participation in the European Innovation Academy in Portugal further reinforced his global outlook, collaborating with international talent to develop startup solutions in an intensive innovation environment.

Beyond product development, Odysseas is deeply invested in cultivating the next generation of innovators. Since 2020, he has served as a Mentor at the Centre for Entrepreneurship at the University of Cyprus, and since 2022 at the IDEA Innovation Center, guiding students and hardware-tech startups as they transform ideas into viable ventures. His dedication to education is further reflected in his role as Associate Lecturer at UCLan Cyprus, where he teaches electronics and robotics courses, and in his earlier experience delivering Arduino-based robotics and coding programs to young learners aged 10–18.

His academic background supports this multidisciplinary approach. Holding a dual Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Cyprus and in Applied Informatics in Economics from the University of Macedonia, he bridges technical engineering with business and economic understanding. This dual perspective enables him to approach technology not only as a system to build, but as an ecosystem to sustain and grow.

With special interests in TinyML, IoT, and embedded systems, Odysseas Economides continues to position himself at the forefront of hardware innovation while actively strengthening Cyprus’ technology ecosystem through leadership, mentorship, and research collaboration.
