About

Ian Erskine’s journey is a testament to the power of resilience, adaptability, and an unwavering belief in people. As the founder of ACI Global, he has spent decades helping organizations embrace quality, continuous improvement, and professional excellence while championing a principle that many businesses overlook: systems succeed only when people do.

Raised in Australia's Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area, Ian grew up in a hardworking Christian family where integrity, discipline, and accountability were deeply valued. His father, a returned Second World War serviceman who later entered public service, and his mother played a significant role in shaping the values that continue to guide him today. While academic success was not his strongest focus during his school years, his passion for farming and the discipline he gained through Army Cadets helped lay the foundation for his future leadership journey.

Long before establishing ACI Global, Ian built experience across a diverse range of industries. Beginning in agriculture, he spent years managing large-scale dryland farming operations, learning firsthand the realities of sustainability, resource management, and innovation. During this time, he adopted regenerative farming practices and developed techniques designed to improve productivity while working in harmony with the environment. These experiences taught him valuable lessons about adaptability, long-term thinking, and the importance of continuous improvement.

His professional path later expanded beyond agriculture into retail, energy distribution, and the dairy industry. From selling sports footwear to managing one of the largest LPG distribution businesses in regional Australia and overseeing natural gas distribution across Western New South Wales, Ian consistently embraced new challenges. Each role added to his understanding of business operations, customer service, and organizational leadership.

One of the defining turning points in his career came during his involvement in the dairy industry. Following deregulation, the market underwent significant disruption, forcing businesses to rethink their strategies and adapt to rapidly changing conditions. Rather than viewing change as a setback, Ian saw it as an opportunity to learn and evolve. This period sparked his growing interest in professional development, quality management, and the role that people play in organizational success.

The origins of ACI Global emerged from this mindset. Officially established in 2004, ACI Global, short for Accelerating Continuous Improvement, began as a consultancy and training organization dedicated to helping businesses strengthen quality systems, food safety practices, and operational performance. Working initially from a home office in Port Macquarie, Ian focused on creating practical solutions that connected international standards with real-world business challenges.

A key differentiator for ACI Global was its commitment to making quality management relevant and accessible. While many training providers relied heavily on theoretical case studies, Ian believed that learning should be directly connected to real organizations, real systems, and real people. This philosophy became the foundation of the company's approach and remains one of its defining strengths today.

In its early years, ACI Global partnered with Exemplar Global, formerly known as RABQSA, and became one of its largest training providers. The organization played a pioneering role in competency-based frameworks aligned with internationally recognized standards. However, one of Ian's greatest challenges came when ACI Global chose to establish itself independently. Building credibility without the support of a larger institution required determination, innovation, and a clear vision.

To strengthen the company's practical expertise, Ian expanded into third-party auditing, working closely with organizations across different industries. These experiences enabled ACI Global to develop training programs rooted in real operational environments rather than hypothetical scenarios. This practical, people-centered approach continues to distinguish the organization in a competitive market.

Today, Ian believes the business world is entering a new era. As artificial intelligence and automation transform industries, he remains a strong advocate for keeping human beings at the center of organizational success. While technology can improve efficiency, he argues that leadership, decision-making, innovation, and continuous improvement ultimately depend on people. This belief has become a central pillar of ACI Global's mission and future direction.

Alongside his professional accomplishments, Ian has faced personal challenges that have further shaped his perspective. His battle with cancer reinforced the importance of balance, resilience, and prioritizing what matters most. The experience strengthened his appreciation for human connection and deepened his commitment to building a legacy that extends beyond business success.

Looking ahead, Ian's vision remains ambitious. He aims to continue expanding ACI Global's global reach while strengthening its people-focused philosophy and ensuring the organization remains positioned for future generations. For aspiring leaders, his advice is straightforward: trust your instincts, embrace change, prepare for uncertainty, and never stop learning.

Through a lifetime of transformation, innovation, and service, Ian has demonstrated that true leadership is not defined solely by systems or processes, but by the people who bring them to life. His journey serves as a powerful reminder that sustainable success begins with purpose, grows through continuous improvement, and endures through human connection.
