Her career began in Kentucky state government after earning her degree in Agribusiness and MBA. Her first role at the Board of Hairdressers as a data entry operator might have been modest, but it became an invaluable stepping stone. Working closely with seasoned professionals, she learned the real-world applications of her academic knowledge and gained critical skills in adaptability and teamwork. Her drive soon led her to the Kentucky Cabinet for Human Resources (CHFS), where she advanced from accountant to health planner. Long hours and eagerness to learn became her hallmark, as she immersed herself in understanding the complexities of government operations and service delivery.

Determined to expand her expertise, Cindy pursued and earned her Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation, strengthening her foundation for leadership. A pivotal moment arrived in May 1995 when she was appointed as a Health Planner at CHFS. Commissioned to assist Governor Brereton Jones in healthcare reform, she played a critical role in answering public inquiries, hosting statewide town forums, and addressing pressing healthcare issues. One of her proudest achievements during this period was helping eliminate unscrupulous insurance companies from the state, ensuring protections for vulnerable populations, including those with pre-existing conditions. This experience sharpened her leadership, problem-solving, and advocacy skills, reinforcing her belief in perseverance and positive thinking.

By 1995, Cindy transitioned into a leadership position as lead analyst over the Health and Family Service Cabinet at the Kentucky Legislative Research Commission. Here, she oversaw the state’s $13 billion health and family services budget, an immense responsibility that tested her ability to lead with empathy, make strategic decisions, and inspire her team. Her career advanced further when she became Chief Financial Officer for the same $13 billion CHFS budget, a role that underscored her financial acumen and leadership strength. In these roles, Cindy championed innovation, improved processes, and built a culture of trust and collaboration. She introduced quick reviews on key topics that streamlined productivity and efficiency, while also fostering an environment where staff felt valued and engaged.

In 2018, Cindy became a licensed insurance agent, broadening her professional journey. She has since sold home, Medicare, and life insurance across the United States, demonstrating her adaptability and passion for connecting people with the services they need. Currently, as a Licensed Insurance Agent at The Murray Group, she continues to bring her expertise, empathy, and dedication to the forefront. She views this role not only as a career milestone but also as an opportunity to keep evolving, learning, and contributing meaningfully to her community.
