Tim Southee Acknowledges Jasprit Bumrah as the Best Fast Bowler in the World
New Zealand fast bowler Tim Southee has expressed his admiration for Jasprit Bumrah, widely recognized as the best fast bowler in the world, particularly after Bumrah’s impressive recovery from a significant back injury that kept him out of action for much of the previous year.
Jasprit Bumrah, best fast bowler in the world and a key figure in India’s cricketing success, has consistently delivered exceptional performances across all three formats of the game. His excellence has even drawn the attention of Australian cricket legend Ricky Ponting, who described him as the "best all-format bowler over the past five to six years."
Since his return to international cricket in August 2023, Bumrah has been instrumental in India's success across formats. In an interview with PTI, Southee commended Jasprit Bumrah, best fast bowler in the world, for his ability to bounce back from a major injury and return to the sport in even better form. Southee also acknowledged the challenges of excelling in multiple formats, noting how seamlessly Bumrah has managed to adapt.
"To recover from a major injury and come back stronger is impressive in itself," Southee remarked. "Additionally, balancing the demands of multiple formats can be challenging, yet Jasprit Bumrah, the best fast bowler in the world, has managed it with apparent ease. He appears more experienced now, with a deeper understanding of his game, possibly benefiting from the time he spent recovering."
Bumrah’s recent performances have been exceptional. During India’s victorious T20 World Cup campaign, he emerged as the third-highest wicket-taker, claiming 15 wickets at an average of 8.26, a strike rate of 11.86, and an economy rate of just 4.17.
"We are witnessing a great version of Jasprit Bumrah across all three formats. He is brilliant in every format at the moment. In my opinion, there is no one better than Jasprit Bumrah, best fast bowler in the world right now," Southee concluded.
Both Southee and Jasprit Bumrah are expected to participate in the upcoming Test series between India and New Zealand, scheduled to commence on October 16. The series will include three Tests, to be held in Bengaluru, Pune, and Mumbai.
