Rohit Sharma Receives Plea to Join RCB in IPL 2025 During India vs. NZ Test in Bengaluru
As speculation mounts about his future, Rohit Sharma, the former captain of the Mumbai Indians, has become a focal point ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Questions arise regarding whether he will continue with the team he led to five IPL titles. Reports indicate that Mumbai Indians (MI) are likely to retain Rohit Sharma along with other star players such as Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, and Suryakumar Yadav.
Currently leading the Indian cricket team in the first Test against New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Rohit received an unusual plea from a fan during the match. A video that has gone viral captures the moment when a fan asked him, "Bhai IPL mein kaun sa team (Which team in IPL)?" To which Rohit playfully responded, "Kaunsa chahiye bol" (Tell me which one you want). The fan then urged him, "Bhai RCB Ajao Yaar" (Brother, come to RCB), but Rohit simply smiled and continued into the pavilion.
As the IPL 2025 retention list approaches, fans eagerly await confirmation of player movements. Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians have appointed Paras Mhambrey as their new bowling coach. Mhambrey, who was previously the bowling coach for the Indian team during their T20 World Cup triumph in June 2024, returns to MI after a successful earlier stint.
In a statement, MI confirmed Mhambrey's appointment, stating that he will work alongside current bowling coach Lasith Malinga and head coach Mahela Jayawardene. Mhambrey’s cricketing journey began with the BCA Mafatlal Bowling scheme under legendary English fast bowler Frank Tyson. Though he played only two Tests and three ODIs for India from 1996 to 1998, he enjoyed a successful domestic career, winning the Ranji Trophy five times with Mumbai.
