PM Modi Launches Semicon India 2024: A Step Toward India's Semiconductor Dominance
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Semicon India 2024 conference on September 11 at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida. This three-day event, themed “Shaping the Semiconductor Future,” aims to showcase India's ambitions in becoming a global semiconductor hub.
Focus of Semicon India 2024
Running from September 11 to 13, the conference will bring together industry leaders, global companies, and experts from the semiconductor sector. More than 250 exhibitors and 150 speakers will participate, presenting opportunities for India to further develop its semiconductor ecosystem.
The event aligns with PM Modi's vision of positioning India as a key player in semiconductor manufacturing, design, and technology. During a Semiconductor Executives’ Roundtable on Tuesday, PM Modi emphasized India’s potential as a trusted partner in a diversified semiconductor supply chain and pledged a stable policy framework to support growth in the industry.
Industry Investments and Plans
In line with India's push toward semiconductor self-sufficiency, Larsen & Toubro Ltd is set to invest $300 million to create a semiconductor company, signaling a significant boost to India's semiconductor industry. This investment is part of a broader trend of Indian conglomerates entering the semiconductor space.
Building a Global Hub
The conference will provide a platform for India to showcase its semiconductor policies and strategies, positioning the country as a competitive player in the global semiconductor industry. International collaboration with leading semiconductor companies is a key focus of the event, reinforcing India’s role in shaping the future of semiconductor technology.
