How Mossad Infiltrated Hezbollah, Discovered Ex-Leader's Secret Marriages

Israel's intelligence agency Mossad uncovered personal details about Hezbollah co-founder Fuad Shukr during its surveillance of the group. According to a report by The New York Times, Shukr, a senior Hezbollah commander, secretly married four women over the phone after feeling "guilty" about maintaining relationships with all of them simultaneously. Shukr sought approval for the marriages from Hezbollah’s senior cleric, Hashem Safieddine, who arranged the ceremonies. However, the unions reportedly didn’t last long.

Mossad has long been collecting both strategic and personal information about Hezbollah leaders. Shukr became a high-priority target for Israel following his alleged involvement in attacks that killed dozens of Israelis. In July, a phone call revealed his hiding place, leading to an Israeli airstrike that killed Shukr, one of his wives, and two children.

Shukr was also identified by the United States as a key figure in the 1983 Beirut barracks bombing, which killed 241 American Marines.

This revelation comes amid ongoing conflicts between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, as well as tensions with Hezbollah in Lebanon. Israel’s government is reportedly debating opening a "northern front" against Hezbollah while strategizing with Mossad and its military to counter the group. These developments reflect the intensifying conflicts across the Middle East, with thousands of casualties reported so far.
