Indian Student Shot Dead at Chicago Petrol Pump While Helping Friend
In a tragic incident, Sai Teja Nukarapu, a 22-year-old student from Telangana, was shot and killed by armed men at a petrol pump in Chicago, USA, on Friday. Sai Teja, who had traveled to the US to pursue an MBA after completing his graduation in India, was working part-time at the petrol pump to support himself.
Incident Details:
According to BRS leader Madhusudan Thatha, Sai Teja was not on duty when the incident occurred. He was at the petrol pump to assist a friend who had requested his help. It was during this time that he was fatally shot.
Support from Indian Authorities:
The Consulate General of India in Chicago expressed deep shock over the incident and demanded swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice. In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), the consulate said:
"We are shocked and deeply saddened by the murder of Indian student Nukarapu Sai Teja. We demand immediate action against the culprits and will extend all possible help to the victim's family and friends."
Family and Community Response:
Mr. Thatha visited Sai Teja’s family in Telangana’s Khammam district to offer his condolences. He also reached out to members of the Telugu Association of North America (TANA) to assist in the investigation and support the family during this difficult time.

Sai Teja had moved to the United States to pursue higher education and was working part-time to manage his living expenses. His untimely death has left his family, friends, and the Indian community in shock and mourning.
