Loud Explosion Near School in Delhi’s Rohini, Forensic Teams Investigating

A loud explosion rocked the area near the CRPF school in Rohini, Delhi, early this morning, leaving local residents in shock and causing damage to the school’s wall and nearby properties. The blast, which occurred at 7:47 am near the CRPF school in Prashant Vihar, did not result in any casualties, but the cause of the explosion is currently under investigation by forensic experts and the Delhi Police.

According to eyewitnesses, the explosion led to a cloud of smoke billowing from the site, causing panic among local residents. One local resident captured the aftermath on video and described hearing a loud noise followed by seeing smoke. “I was at home when I heard a loud sound and saw a cloud of smoke. I recorded the video, but I do not know what caused the explosion. Soon after, police and an ambulance arrived at the spot,” said the eyewitness.

Forensic Teams and Police Investigating

Senior police officials, including Amit Goel, have stated that forensic teams, along with the Delhi Police special cell and a bomb disposal squad, have been dispatched to the site to determine the cause of the blast. The area has been cordoned off, and authorities are thoroughly examining the blast site, including an underground sewage line as part of the investigation.

The explosion caused damage to window panes of cars parked near the school and signboards of shops in the surrounding area. Despite the structural damage, there have been no injuries reported. The Delhi Fire Brigade has also reached the scene to assist with safety measures and ensure no further hazards are present.

The police, in their statement, said: “Today at 07:47 hrs, a PCR call was received in which the caller informed that a blast with lots of noise took place near the CRPF school, Sector 14, Rohini. SHO/PV and staff reached the spot, where the school wall was found damaged with a foul smell in the air. Glasses of nearby shops and cars parked near the blast site were damaged, but no one was injured.”

Suspected Cause and Ongoing Investigation

Although the investigation is ongoing, early reports suggest that a crude bomb could potentially be behind the blast, according to police sources. However, authorities have not confirmed any definitive conclusions, and experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and the National Security Guard (NSG) have been called to the site to conduct a thorough examination. A team from the NSG may visit the spot later today.

The police are treating the area as a crime scene, and further updates on the cause of the explosion are expected as forensic teams analyze the evidence. Senior officers have assured the public that all necessary precautions are being taken, and the situation is under control.
