Elon Musk Calls Trudeau "Such An Insufferable Tool" Over Remarks on Trump

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has reignited tensions with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, calling him "such an insufferable tool" on social media. Musk’s remarks followed Trudeau’s speech at an Ottawa gala, where the Prime Minister criticized what he described as regressive forces impacting women’s rights and took a veiled jab at U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.

Trudeau’s comments came during an event organized by Equal Voice, a group advocating for more women in political office. Referring to the recent U.S. presidential election, Trudeau lamented Kamala Harris's loss as a setback for women’s progress, while criticizing broader trends he viewed as detrimental to gender equality.

Trudeau’s Remarks

Trudeau expressed disappointment over the outcome of the election, stating, “It wasn’t supposed to be that way. We were supposed to be on a steady, if difficult, march toward progress. Yet, just weeks ago, the United States voted for a second time not to elect its first woman president.”

The Canadian leader further emphasized his commitment to women’s rights, saying, “Everywhere, women’s rights and progress are under attack, overtly and subtly. I want you to know I am, and always will be, a proud feminist.”

Musk’s Retort

Musk responded sharply to Trudeau’s remarks on X (formerly Twitter), accusing him of being intolerable and predicting his political downfall. "He’s such an insufferable tool. Won’t be in power for much longer," Musk wrote.

This isn’t the first time Musk has criticized Trudeau. Last month, Musk declared that Trudeau would “be gone” in Canada’s next federal election, scheduled for 2025. Previously, Musk had accused Trudeau of undermining free speech after Canada introduced regulations for online streaming platforms and invoked emergency powers during the 2022 trucker protests.

A History of Clashes

Musk’s criticism of Trudeau has escalated over the years:

  • In 2022, Musk controversially compared Trudeau to Adolf Hitler after the Canadian Prime Minister invoked emergency powers to manage protests against COVID-19 vaccine mandates. Musk later deleted the post.
  • Musk accused Trudeau’s government of attempting to “crush free speech” following new regulations for digital platforms.

Polarizing Reactions

Trudeau’s remarks and Musk’s retort have sparked polarized reactions online. Supporters of Trudeau lauded his commitment to women’s rights and equality, while critics accused him of politicizing gender issues. Musk’s comments also drew mixed reactions, with some echoing his criticism and others calling it unwarranted.

Global Implications

The exchange underscores the growing intersection of politics, technology, and cultural debates. As high-profile figures like Musk continue to wield influence through social media, their commentary shapes public discourse on key issues, often amplifying divisions.

With both men deeply entrenched in their respective positions, the ongoing friction between Musk and Trudeau highlights the broader cultural and political tensions shaping the global conversation.
