In a landmark move signaling deeper economic cooperation, a delegation of Chinese investors has met with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari to formalize a $1 billion investment plan for establishing a medical city in Karachi's Dhabeji Economic Zone. This initiative marks a significant development in the longstanding bilateral relations between China and Pakistan, which have been strengthened by numerous collaborative investments, including the pivotal China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The proposed medical city aims to become Pakistan's premier fully integrated pharmaceutical and medical ecosystem, poised to transform the healthcare landscape of the region. The strategic investment was detailed in discussions held on Thursday, which also involved Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and the Chinese Consul General, following successful negotiations between the Sindh government and the Chinese investment conglomerate.

"The establishment of the medical city in Dhabeji will not only bolster the economic ties between China and Pakistan but also pave the way for advancements in healthcare services and pharmaceutical manufacturing in Pakistan," stated a spokesperson from the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), the entity overseeing the Dhabeji Economic Zone.

During the meeting, President Zardari emphasized Pakistan's commitment to fostering and facilitating Chinese investments across various sectors, including health, agriculture, energy, and manufacturing. "We welcome Chinese investors and are determined to provide them with every possible support," he asserted, signaling a robust framework for future Chinese-funded projects in Pakistan.

Moreover, the Sindh Chief Minister highlighted the government's efforts to bridge cultural and linguistic gaps by introducing Chinese language courses across the province, aiming to enhance mutual understanding and cooperation between the two nations.

This $1 billion initiative is expected to significantly impact Pakistan's economic and healthcare sectors, further solidifying the symbiotic relationship between China and Pakistan as they continue to explore new avenues for partnership.
